  9. Uses of the North Country Trail The vision for the NCT is a premier foot path stretching across the northern tier of the U.S.A. Offers year round recreation to people of all ages and skill levels: • Day hiking • Backpacking • Snowshoeing • Bird-watching • Hunting • Camping • Fishing and paddling

  10. Building the North Country Trail Our goal is to build a sustainable trail that has: • 18-24” tread • 4’ width clear of debris • 8-10’ height clearance • 10% maximum grade • 5% Outslope • Gradual curves that fit the landscape • Minimal structures • Appropriate signage

  12. North Country Trail Association The North Country Trail Association is the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service in building and maintaining the NCT. MISSION STATEMENT: The North Country Trail Association develops, maintains, protects, and promotes the North Country National Scenic Trail as the premier hiking path across the northern tier of the United States through a trail-wide coalition of volunteers and partners.

A Trail Town is a community through which the North Country Trail passes that supports hikers with services, promotes the Trail to its citizens and embraces the Trail as a resource to be protected and celebrated.
