  6. Where We Are At CANADA’S ASCENT TO THE TOP At the end of the 2006/07 season, Canada was ranked 3rd among all winter-sport nations. At the end of the 2007/08 season, Canada was ranked 2nd among all winter-sport nations. Canada is closing the gap with Germany. In 2008/09, Canada finished 1st overall in World Championship medal counts and 2nd in Paralympic events.
