  1. East Africa- Sudan By Harris Nazri 9 B

  2. Level and Perspective of the Media Coverage of events in Sudan • I think that the Darfur media coverage is limited and Arab media does not contribute in giving significant high priority to the current crisis. Instead, they cover the ongoing crisis in the African region. In contrast, Sudanese media gives extensive coverage of the Darfur crisis than their non-Sudanese neighbors.

  3. International Response to the War in Darfur. • Bill Richardson (former democratic presidential candidate) met with President Omar al Bashir in Khartoum. 60 days of ceasefire was agreed to between the two after… • Despite over a dozen attempts for UN team to apply for visas in trying to get into Darfur, Khartoum refuses to let them into the country. • A deal was struck would have allowed the AU mission to be strengthen into a 22,000 combined UN and AU forces. However, President Bashir reneged on this agreement.

  4. Predictions for future of Darfuri People • I think that, there will be more serious bloodshed for the Darfuri people. The anticipated Doha talks has become another cause of great contention. Rebels are calling for call of Doha, the venue, while Khartoum is insisting on continuing talks there. It is not where the peace talks is being held but what is being discussed. Good procedures should be laid off by the rebel fraction.
