  2. Overview Designed with the desire to : • Utilize existing trails & structures • Utilize site topography • Attract an eclectic group of visitors

  4. Visitor’s Center • Plenty of parking • Power supplied by generators • Leech field for waste • Located on highest ridge to promote view of Denali • Surrounded by hiking trails

  5. Visitor’s Center Access Road • Cars, RV’s, and tour buses • Parking and drop-off area • Closed during the winter • Design speed of 20–25 mph • Scenic drive

River Access • None proposed in Alternative C at this time • Existing raft launch on Chulitna River, south of proposed visitor center access point, at mile 133 of Parks Hwy • Existing jet boat services for guided fishing and wilderness tours in Susitna River • Future consideration for boat launch at proposed train platform for private use, guided tours, and fishing

  9. RV Camping • 28 spaces available • Dimensions of each space: 28 ft x 75 ft • Cul-de-sac formation to offer privacy for RV users • One-way traffic lane, width – 25 ft • Recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) for dust control • Sufficient space for future expansion

  10. Drive-up Tent Camping • Tent camping with vehicles, 10 spaces available • 3 restroom facilities throughout campsite • Light one-way traffic flow • Separated campsites for privacy

  11. Back Country Tent Camping • 30 spaces available • Located along Lake 1787 • Distant campsites for peaceful enjoyment

  12. Remote tent Camping along Susitna River Yerts along Curry Ridge Yerts will be available year-round Remote Camping

  13. Summer Hiking Trails • 8 miles of developed trails, 27 miles of wilderness hiking trails • 2 trails lead into existing Troublesome Creek and Blair Lake Trails • 1 trail leading to the Princess Lodge • 1 trail leading to the railroad access

  15. Winter Snow Machining Area/Trails • Road closed after parking lot during winter months • Snow machine riders can cut paths • Enough parking to accommodate large groups/tours
