Vision • The airworthiness program envisages a need to focus from certification to continuing airworthiness & maintenance • Outcome: • States and Industry will improve its continuing airworthiness maintenance of aircraft through enhance guidance material provided by ICAO aimed at developing States with limited continuing airworthiness capability

  5. Airworthiness Section Responsibilities • Annexes 1, 5, 6, 7, & 8 • ICAO Document 9760, Airworthiness Manual • Airworthiness Panel • Reply to States requests • Coordinate States complaints & disputes relevant to airworthiness and AME personnel licensing • Participate in USOAP missions • Support the United Nations Aviation Technical Advisory Group • Division of Peace Keeping Operations and World Food Program

On-going Projects • Halon Replacement on civil aircraft meeting 1-3 December • Update of Assembly Resolution A36-12 • Methodologies for amending Annexes • Amendment of annex 6 & 8 • Based on AIRP/WG/WHL12, proposals and, • AN-WP/8323 Secretariat proposal to keep Annex 8 current • AN-WP/8351 Final Review before ANC, 17 Nov. • AN-WP Approval of draft report to Council on Amendment No. 102 to Annex 8 will be presented to the ANC at the 183rd Session

On-going Projects Contd, • ICAO Document 9760, Airworthiness Manual • Will update with additional continuing airworthiness information. • Circular 95, The Continuing Airworthiness of Aircraft in Service • Update and enhance circular with additional information to determine the continuing airworthiness of aircraft

  8. Projects, Not Started • Amend airworthiness manual to align with Annex 6 operational continuing airworthiness requirements • Development and implementation of training programmes to assist in the roll-out of the Doc 9760.

  9. Projects, Not Started Contd., • Support the integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into non-segregated airspace. • UAS airworthiness SARP’s.

  10. Future Projects on the Horizon! • Annex Amendment for maintenance personnel duty time limitation • Review and organize database files.

  11. Airworthiness Panel • The airworthiness panel will shift its attention towards operational continuing airworthiness and maintenance matters • Guidance material for 9760 will closer align with Annex 6 Parts I, II, III • Developing States with limited continuing airworthiness capability likely to benefit from the guidance material
