  2. Management Reporter • As of 5/1/2013 the most recent version of MR is 2012 Rollup 5 • Proceed with caution if you choose to update your MR release on your own as some versions do not function properly with certain version of SL. Example MR 2012 Rollup 3 may not work properly with SL 2011 service pack 1. • Mainstream Support for FRx 6.7 ended on 7/14/2009, extended support ends on 7/8/2014. • Extended support for FRX 6.5 ended 10/9/2012.

  3. Management Reporter Tips prior converting to MR from FRx • Identify all companies used and remove those that are not used such as the demo companies. • Identify all specification sets used and remove the ones not used. • Identify all catalogs, row, columns, and trees used. Any building blocks not associated with a catalog will not migrate. You may need to create reports for those prior to migration • Delete FRx Demo specification sets. • Remove any spaces at the beginning of building blocks. • If you have been using MR for testing all your reports will be erased during migration, export any MR reports you need prior to migration.

  4. Management Reporter After Migration to MR • In most configurations both FRx and MR can be used at the same time while users get familiar with MR and have validated that all MR reports are working. Any report changes to FRx reports will not change the MR reports that were migrated. • Not all building blocks will migrate successfully! Don’t worry these reports and definitions as well as the reason why the report did not migrate will be flagged with a symbol. In most cases a simple adjustment is required such as moving the percent format code on a row to the format code column in MR.

  5. Management Reporter After Migration to MR • Now is a good time to review your organizations security and reporting methods. Several options are now available for publishing reports (Report Viewer, Web Viewer, XPS, SharePoint, and the accounting favorite Excel). • Ran out of time to clean up the reports and data prior to migrating? Now is your chance for a new beginning. After migrating all your reports to MR use the building blocks to start fresh.

  6. Management Reporter Terminology Changes • Specification Set is now Building Block Group • Catalog ID is now Report Definition • Row Format is now Row Definition • Column Layout is now Column Definition • Reporting Tree is now Reporting Tree Definition • Drill Down Viewer is now Report Viewer • GL in the Column Layout is now FD (Financial Data) in the Column Definition • CUR in the Period/YTD cell is now Periodic

  7. Management Reporter New Features • Stability from being on a SQL database • Most importantly - Undo is now a term, button , shortcut (ctrl Z), and action. Allows you to undo a change without having to close without saving. • Column Page Breaks • Ability to add images • Reports Library – ability to organize your published reports by type and set security for each report.

  8. Management Reporter Web Viewer • Available in MR rollup 3 and later • Benefits • Clean and modern interface • Reports are viewed in an internet browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari), no longer limited to use on a computer only • Reduced training time for end users • Less software to install and maintain for users • Drill down and Tree security still available

  9. Management Reporter SharePoint • You will need to add permissions to the folder in SharePoint to allow the report to be published. Visit hereto view a video detailing the steps required to set this up. • Add the URL to the output and distribution to publish to SharePoint • Changes comments are visible in MR Report Viewer as well as SharePoint

  10. Management Reporter Tips and Tricks • Grouping Reports • Schedule Reports • Security in the Reporting Tree Definition • Dates – Why is the day spelled out on the report header • Underlines in the column header • Data Mart – New recommendation to speed up performance is to have MR on a separate server • Exporting to Excel – Both viewers
