  2. The crane has to be assembled before it can begin the task of installing a 2KW wind turbineFirst The Outriggers are lifted into place

  3. The hook block is reeved

  4. The superstructure is raised

  5. ...and lowered into place

  6. Up goes the mast

  7. ..which locks into the vertical position

  8. The pendant supports are then lifted into place

  9. The mast is telescoped

  10. The pendants are tensioned and the crane is ready to work

  11. The tower mast is in 3 sections weighing 62 tonnes, 53 tonnes and 45 tonnes respectively.Here the second tower section is lifted into place

  12. The top section weighing 45 tonnes is located

  13. Next the 70 tonne nacelle, the heaviest single load, is lifted

  14. …and placed on to the 70m mast

  15. The Grove GTK 1100 lifts an eight tonne blade in tandem with a mobile crane, assembling the propeller module on the ground

  16. The blade and hub assembly weighing 42 tonnes is liftedinto place
