  2. FINE ARTS COURSES Digital Arts Exploration Introduction to Art Drawing Sculpture Photography I and Photography II Airbrush Painting Art Studio I and Art Studio 2 AP Studio Art or IB Art included, if desired

  3. Digital Arts Exploration • Create original works of art using a variety of software, including Photoshop • Explore graphic design, communication arts and digital media • One semester course backs with Health • Grade 9

  4. Introduction to Art • Beginning class for students • Experience a variety of art styles • Drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and printmaking • Grades 9 – 12 • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  5. Drawing • Beginning drawing class • Pencil, colored pencil, watercolor and pen and ink • Art history included • Grades 9 – 12 • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  6. Sculpture • Prerequisite: Intro to Art recommended • Concepts of sculpted form and space • Various 3-D media • Variety of sculptural processes • Grades 10 – 12 • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  7. Photography I • Study the basic photographic process • Become proficient in digital photography software • Earn high school and Butte College credit • Grades 11 – 12 (Grade 10 with teacher permission) • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  8. Photography II • Prerequisite: “C” grade in Photo I or teacher’s approval • Advanced photo students • Focus on creation and composition • Grades 11 – 12 • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  9. Airbrush Painting • Learn the fundamentals of drawing and color • Learn airbrush techniques • Render paintings or stencil original designs on surfaces • Grades 11 – 12 • May be repeated for credit

  10. Art Studio I • First year of a 2-year program • Campus art and portfolio development in a variety of media • Job shadows, field trips and guest artists • Graphic design integrated with technology, website development and e-portfolios • Grade 11 • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  11. Art Studio 2 • Second year of a 2-year program • Community art and portfolio development in a variety of media • Field trips, mentorships and guest artists • Graphic design integrated with technology, website development and e-portfolio • Grade 12

  12. AP Studio Art • Create a portfolio of art concepts and techniques • Earn college credit • Grades 11 – 12 • May be repeated for credit • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement • Included as part of Art Studio

  13. IB Art • Part of the International Baccalaureate Program • Culminates with a graded one-person exhibit of individual work • Included in Art Studio I and Art Studio 2 • Grades 10 – 12 • Meets UC/CSU “F” requirement

  14. Art Club • Meetings at lunch • Field Trip to San Francisco Art Museums in the Spring • Adopt a Family at the Holidays • Other Volunteer Projects

  15. National Art Honor Society • Semester of art during grades 10 – 12 • 3.0 g.p.a. in art classes • $3.00 yearly dues • National recognition for outstanding art students • Student art show in the spring with a guest speaker
