  2. The Outsiders By: S.E Hinton Controversial for gang violence, underage drinking, smoking, and gang violence. Published in 1967. You Will Enjoy This

  3. The Outsiders (Film) *AFTER* we have all read the book, we will watch the movie in class. Released in 1983. Starred many big name actors of the time period. Hey, It’s Tom Cruise!

  4. Aw Man! Not A Project!! Projects are a big part of your grade! The Outsiders Project After we finish reading, you will select your favorite character from the book. Write a 3 page paper on why they are you favorite character and how you relate to them. Present the paper to the class. Dressing like the character will help your grade.

  5. To Kill A Mockingbird Published 1960 Extremely controversial due to racial injustice, among other social issues.

  6. To Kill A Mockingbird (Film) Released in 1962 Won 3 Academy Awards, including Best Actor, Gregory Peck. Widely considered one of the best movies ever made.

  7. Don’t Be Girly Man, This Will Be Fun!! To Kill A Mockingbird Project I will equally divide you up in groups. You will pick cards at random that will have different social themes from the book. You will collectively write an eight page paper and present it to the class.

  10. The Great Gatsby Project What Comes before Part B? PAAAARRRTTYYY!!! *After you do your Project* You will do a 2 page paper on Who is your favorite Great Gatsby character and why. Then we will have a roaring 20s party. We will dress like the characters, and spend an afternoon having pizza & soda.

  11. Dracula By: Bram Stoker Published in 1897 This book has spawned tons of sequels, spin offs, and franchises. Now you guys are going to read the original story! I am Vlad The Implaer, Dracula was based on me! Read my story and be scared!! Mwhaha!

  13. Dracula Project Bram Stoker’s Dracula has affected so many different forms of media. From books, to movies, vampires are everywhere today and it all started with his book. Pick something that can be traced back to Dracula, and write about it. Write a 3 page paper explaining why you like it, and connect it to Dracula.

  14. The Three Musketeers By: Alexandre Dumas Published In 1844 Tells the story of 3 Musketeers serving King Louis during the 1600s. “All For One, and One For All!”

  16. Three Musketeers Project They share a common bond, “All For One And One For All” yet of the four lead charactersthey couldn’t be more different. You will select one of the following characters and write why he is your favorite. • Porthos • Athos • Aramis • D’Artagnan The paper will be a 4 page paper.

Tests and Quizzes. • Reading is more fun when we do it together. • So we will be reading some chapters of the book in class. • I will assign chapters on the book for homework. • When I assign you a chapter to read, the next day, YOU WILL HAVE A QUIZ! • When we finish reading a book, YOU WILL HAVE A TEST! • After the test, is when we will watch the movie.

  18. Respect I’ll treat everyone in here like a grown up. I will not talk down to you. I expect the same from you. You show disrespect to me, or anyone in this classroom you’re gone for the day. You miss assignments due to being kicked out, that’s your problem. End of Story…

  19. Be Creative!! The best part of Literature is everyone sees things differently! So if you have an different idea for a project, ask me about it! I might say go ahead and do it! MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WITH ME FIRST!

  20. LET’S TALK!! I want to know what you guys think of these books and characters! So in this class we are going to talk about them. A LOT!! If you think they SUCK! Say they suck! If you love them say you love them!! But you are going to have to be able to back up why you feel this way with an explanation. Remember to be respectful of each other!
