  1. C-SPIN Outreach, Oklahoma/Arkansas MRSEC, DMR-0520550 Portable SEM for K-12 Schools High school students measuring size of the structure in a plant MRSEC graduate students (Rob Sleezer) gives regional high school students the opportunity to use portable scanning electron microscope to look at the structure of flowers, bugs, hair, rocks, tree bark, or any object of interest in order to see its structure Achievement: Expanding outreach with portable SEM for K-12 math/science.Last year MRSECgraduate students at the University of Arkansas brought cutting edge microscopy to local middle school students and allow them to explore the world of nanoscience in real-time. This year our focus expanded to regional high school students. The microscope is an FEI portable scanning electron microscope (SEM) (obtained by a grant FEI) which was brought into the classrooms of local high schools. The SEM allows the students to explore the world of the “nano.”
