  2. Itis G. Giorgi is located in the South area of Milan, not far from the tourist downtown, where you can admire the famous Duomo. The Duomo di Milanois one of the most famous buildings in Europe. It is the largestGothic cathedral and the second largest Catholic cathedral in the world.

  3. The school is well connected by the means of transport: • the greenline of the underground is at less than 100 metres from the Institute. • the bus stop is near the underground station. La Scala is a world renowned opera house in Milan, recognised as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world.

  4. Daytime courses About 700 students attend classes at Giorgi. ITIS G.Giorgi is a secondary school including: • daytime courses for students aged 15 to 19, • evening courses for worker-students. Eveningcourses

  5. Triennio Biennio The courses lastfive years divided into: • a “biennio”, a two-year course dealing with basic education concerning common subjects such as language, chemistry, phisics, science. • a “triennio” (post-biennio), a three-year course offering different specialitations: • electrotechnic expertise, • electronic expertise, • mechanical expertise, • scientific technologic expertise.

  6. The eveningcourse Since 1966 Giorgi has been one of the most important technical Institutes in Milan. It is the biggest Italian evening school . Students come not only from internal areas of the city but also from the southern suburbs of Milan.

ITIS Giorgi’s goals Giorgi’s main goals, defined in its educational program (“P.O.F.” document) are: • Promoting culture, social relationships and environmental respect. • Teaching complete awareness of "participatory citizenship“. • Offering technical-scientific training to its students in order to allow them to face the challenges in today’s society which is in continuous evolution.

  9. Justiceof the peace Giorgi’s strong points: • Every class is being closely followed by a coordinator and a tutor (each one of them with specific aims). • The justice of the peace (a committee composed of two students and two teachers, chosen equally from daytime and evening classes) is in charge of solving possible disciplinary problems.

  10. Giorgi’s Projects Giorgi’s experience in European Projects has increased more and more with the passing of time. Taking into account only the last five years: • Minerva Project: theuse of videoconferencing to enhance multilingualism and communicative competence in Europe. • Grundtvig Project: E_tutor for lifelong learning: competence and methodology. • Inspire Project: new teaching methods in the field of maths, science and technology (MST). • Grundtvig Project: European Learning Objects - an interactive methodology in adult education. • Grundtvig Project: Mobile: a new technology for adult learners. • Grundtvig Project: Exploring ways to reach the “Hard to Reach” • Comenius Project: Migration

  11. Giorgi’s network • C.T.P. network enables Giorgi to organize courses offered to students over twenty. Those courses allow students to develop the curricula of two scholar years in only one. • Indire Platform enables students to be in touch with an online tutor and to solve unexpected problem at distance. • blended e-learning experimentations allow students to follow an e-learning lesson from home at least once a week.

  12. Giorgi’s quality has been certified by CISQCERT for 5 years. CISQCERT is an external authority which certifies the quality of education. This project enables us to monitor the actual situation and to find possible weak points in the system and overcome them.
