  2. Regla 1 • The verbs hacer (to do, to make),poner (to put or place), traer (to bring), and salir have an irregular yo form. The yo form has a g. All other forms of the verb are the same.

  4. Regla 2 • The verb venir (to come) also has an irregular yo form. Note that in addition it has a stem change e- ie in all forms except nosotros and vosotros • Venir (to come)- vengo, vienes, viene, venimos, venís,vienen

  5. Regla 3 • The verb hacer means “to do” or “to make.” The questions ¿Qué hace Ud? Means “What are you doing? Or “ What do you do?” In Spanish you almost always answer these questions with a different verb. • Ex. ¿Qué haces? Yo trabajo en el aeropuerto.

  6. Regla 4 • The verb hacer is used in many idiomatic expressions. • An idiomatic expression is one that does not translate directly to one language from another. • The expression hacer un viaje ( to take a trip) is an idiomatic expression because in Spanish the verb hacer is used whereas in English we use the verb to take. Another expression is hacer la maleta which means “ to pack a suitcase”

  9. Práctica • En el aeropuerto, ¿pones, el equipaje en la báscula? • Sí, yo pongo el equipaje en la báscula. • ¿En que vuelo sales? • Yo salgo en vuelo siete, uno, tres. • ¿Sales de la puerta de salida número ocho? • Sí, yo salgo de la puerta de salida ocho.
