2. This is a visual of our 80 day hiring model. The foundation of the 80 day model is the OPM 45 day hiring model, which OPM developed to address the concerns of both applicants and managers that it takes too long to hire federal employees, both external to the government and internally. The goal of the 45 day model is to make job offers to selectees within 45 days of the closing date of a vacancy announcement.
Goddard added activities not accounted for in the 45 day model such as the time needed to hang the vacancy announcement, the time the announcement is advertised, and the selectees two week notice. Our HR Specialist are working to get certs issued within the 15 days provided in the model. We need your help in making selections quickly approximately 30 days. (It says 27 on the chart.)

3. GSFC 80 Day Hiring Model - Background The foundation is OPMs 45 day hiring model.
Day 1 begins when OHCM receives a complete package, which includes a classified position description.
Using the model will assist in projecting a realistic timeframe in which vacancies will be filled to improve your planning.
You will also be able to more accurately project hires on your Directorate staffing plan which rolls into the Center Staffing Plan.
An important point about the 80 day model is when the model begins, which is the time we have a classified position description. Additionally, the 80 day model serves three purposes. First, as a Center we are committed to meeting the 45 day metric. Second, we believe using the model will assist you in projecting when your vacancy will be filled, so that you may plan your work accordingly.
