Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year in Mrs. Muir's second grade class at Glen Arden! With 15 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Muir is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment focused on behavioral support and engaging lesson plans. This year, we'll explore math, reading comprehension, and writing, emphasizing individual skill levels. Communication is key, so please stay in touch! Remember to ensure your child arrives on time and is prepared for a day full of exciting learning activities.

  2. About Mrs. Muir • I have taught for 15 years (all here at Glen Arden)! I have taught 2nd grade and 4th grade. • BA from WFU, MaED from WCU, National Board Certified • Husband – Russell, daughter (5) – Abby, and dog (13) - Duncan

  6. How you can help at home... • Please have your child arrive on time (7:55) • Check homework and encourage students to correct errors. • Check/sign the homework each night. • Help your child to get a good night’s sleep. • Send a healthy snack. • Stay positive! • Communicate with me!

  7. Important Policies • If your student is absent, you have THREE DAYS to send in an excuse note, or the absence will be marked unexcused. • Students will not be allowed to charge over $7.00 in the cafeteria. If a student is going to exceed $7.00, they will be given an alternative meal.

  10. Words • Words Their Way • Students begin at their skill level based on beginning assessment. • Word Sorts based on sounds and spelling patterns. • High Frequency Words – study at home

  11. Lunch 11:00-11:30 • If you would like to join your child for lunch, please meet us in the cafeteria!
