  1. Curriculum for Excellence Cooperation and Competition S. Raeburn

  2. Level 4 • 4th - While learning together and in leadership situations, I can: • Experience different roles and take responsibility in organising a physical event • Contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment • Demonstrate behaviour that contributes to fair play

  3. s3 Core Football “experience different roles” - manager: general running of the team e.g. organising positions, formations, have team colour co-ordinated. - Team Captain: Motivator throughout the game. Liaise with manager and referee. - Fitness Coach: Main roles include leading warm-up, cool-down and stretching. - Statistician: Whoever is substitute at the time will take the roll of statistician. Stat sheets will be distributed before each match which will include data collection for goals scored, bookings, corners, penalties, off-sides and assists. - Match Report: Shared roll. This is a weekly report on the game which will be displayed on the wall outside the P.E Dept.

  4. s3 Core Football “Take responsibility” • Pupils are responsible for: - designating roles - self-refereeing matches - completing match data and reports - turning up on time - obtaining maximum points each week - The transfer window

  5. s3 Core Football “Organising a physical event” • The teacher has the main role in setting up the event (due to time restriction) • Gradually the pupils will take more responsibility. • Arrange for their team to arrive on time, be warmed up and positions designated.

  6. s3 Core Football “Contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment” Supportive: Pupils will be working in the same teams for the season, only at the transfer season will teams change. They need to work together to share roles and responsibilities. Inclusive: All pupils are mixed together in various teams. Each has the same opportunity and responsibility to fulfil each role.

  7. s3 Core Football “Demonstrate behaviour that contributes to fair play” • Etiquette is enforced throughout the games. • Various awards are presented at the end of the season as well as the ‘golden guttie’. • Games are overseen by the teacher in charge. • Sanctions will be distributed as appropriate.

  8. Experiences and Outcomes • Health and well-being across learning: • - Through practical performance the outcomes and experiences have been met. • - There appeared to be a competitive element and high level of enjoyment throughout the season. • Literacy across learning: • - Data collection • - Match reports • - The spoken word • Numeracy across learning: • - Tally marks for data collection • - Scores of the games • - Total points gathered each week and overall points.

  9. CfE • This hybrid Sport Education/CfE idea was also tried out with s4 core basketball and s4 standard grade dance. • This idea is not new. All these ideas have floated around before. This is just a format to try and bring many of the ideas together in a hybrid model which appears to fit in well with level 4.
