  5. Volunteers In Practice • The money we raise from the food drive goes to the Weymouth Food Pantry • 2014 we raised $3,300 • 2015 we raised $5,000 • 2016 we raised $8,500

  9. Who gets to go to Weycathlon 2017? Students who do great volunteerism! 25 students from this school get to go. 5 students from each grade.

  10. What is volunteering? Volunteering means that you work to help others. It means you lend a helping hand.

YOU can volunteer at home • Do a chore without being asked • Bring school supplies in for your teacher • Donate books you’ve outgrown • Do yard work for a neighbor • Read to your younger sibling • Write a thank you note for a soldier • Donate food to the Weymouth Food Pantry • Bring cookies to your custodian • Help put away groceries

  12. YOU can volunteer at school • Leave a happy note for a classmate. • Write thank you cards for your bus driver or WeyCare workers • Tell the principal how great your teacher is • Make friends with someone new at school • Make a card to thank last year’s teacher • Help with a classroom chore

YOU can volunteer with others • Help with a parent council fundraiser • Run a food drive for the Weymouth Food Pantry • Run a coat drive for Cradles to Crayons • Organize a school clean-up day • Take treats to the local fire station • Write to pen pals through a program like ePals • Collect letters and care package items to send to soldiers through an organization like Operation Gratitude

Growing Volunteerism Challenge • There is a flyer going home in your backpacks today • It explains everything we said • Attached will be a few helping hands • Do acts of volunteerism at home, bring in your hands, and tape them to the tree • School with the most hands wins the service event at Weycathlon 2017 • Students with the most hands may get to go to Weycathlon 2017.
