  2. Introduction: • The three R’s of recycling are: • Reduce – what you buy and use so you have less to throw away. • Reuse – use the same things as often as you can. • Recycle – find lots of new ways to use old things. • Every drop of water counts!

  3. Use of taps. • Turn off tap after washing your hands. • Use signs near taps to tell others how to use them correctly. • Wash paint brushes in an empty container of water instead of under a running tap. • Report any leaking taps around the school to a teacher. • Water Corporation WA (2011). Water Use on School Grounds. • Water only when needed. • Follow water rules to water gardens and lawns. • Plant native plants. • Use a watering can where possible. • Keep pools covered. • Do not water the school ground during the heat of the day – instead do it in the morning or evening. • WaterwiseCorporation WA (2011). Water Use in the Canteen. • Wash fruit and vegetables in a container or half filled sink instead of under running water. • Only use the dishwasher when full. • Only use running water for a final rinse – NOT to clean. • Use a sink drainer to stop food scraps from going down the drain and needing a plumber to fix. • Dry brush and spot clean the floors as often as you can. • Water Corporation WA (2011).
