  3. Matthew’s Biography of Jesus: • Organized around 5 discourses • Organized around particular themes

  4. First 1/3 of the First Century Jesus did good works (culminating with his work on the cross) and taught the disciples about the kingdom. Second 1/3 of the First Century Apostles led a movement based on a house church network and wrote letters to establish churches. Third 1/3 of the First Century False teachers tried to dis-establish the churches. Apostles wrote Gospels (biographies) to stabilize churches and maintain the movement.
