The Lutheran Church of Central Africa - Malawi (LCCA-M) has experienced significant growth since its inception. Beginning in 1963 with outreach efforts, LCCA-M has flourished to nearly 40,000 baptized members and 130 congregations by 2014. The ordination of Malawi's first pastor in 1976 marked a pivotal moment in the church's history. Education for future leaders is provided at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Lilongwe. The church continues to seek prayer for an increase in local workers and support for its missions, including outreach into Mozambique.
