  2. In San Antonio, Texas, as many as 50,000 dogs and cats underwent euthanasia in the year of 2005. • San Antonio is working to become a No Kill city by 2012.

  3. Opposed to euthanasia, San Antonio has created laws that require everyone to spay or neuter their pets • The only way around that is having a specific license stating it

  4. “Almost nine of every ten dogs that enter the pound are put to death, many within an hour of arriving at the pound.” -Lisa Sandberg, 2004 • Some of those animals were under four months of age

  5. The dogs are sent to these chambers; the air in the chambers are about 6% lethal gas. • The animals are dead within five minutes.

  6. There has been a decrease of animals euthanized at the pound since the problem of over euthanasia was addressed to the public. • The limit of dogs allowed at a residency is five

  7. Conditions in Animal Shelters

  8. Many animal shelters hardly have enough room to sustain the amount of animals they have. • Many Shelters Struggle to provide food for the animals because of the lack of funds.

  9. Some shelters end up euthanizing most of their animals simply because they can no longer afford to keep them. • Many Shelters hold adoption drives that will not even have one animal adopted off and so this leads to the euthanasia of the animal that might otherwise be adopted.

  10. Many animals in shelters are affected by their surrounding animals. • Howling from dogs all night long can cause sleep deprivation and severe trauma.

  11. If one dog gets sick the poor conditions in the shelter can spread the sickness quickly throughout and cause many deaths.

  12. Animal shelters have such close conditions and many times have few employees that cleanliness is non-existent.

  14. This slides are true crimes that are occurring now a day without people caring, what happens to the animals affected. What's worse is that these crimes are occurring the USA and in other developed countries.

  15. Animal Cruelty in Italy • In Italy many summer tourist take their pets with them and abandon their pets in the streets. • In a small village some dogs were tortured by burning the there vocal chords so they would stop howling.

  16. Animal Cruelty in Canada • One way of abuse, was that a cat was killed in a microwave, • A puppy beaten to death with a hammer, • 29 horses dead, and 100 seriously sick because of neglect.
