  2. The genus Oryzias contains nearly 20 small fish species Distributed in in Asia Each species exhibits specific distribution patterns (NOT disturbed by human activity) and different adaptability to seawater (Albert and Naruse, 2000)

  4. SW-adaptability of the four Oryzias fishes (Inoue and Takei, 2002; 2003)

  5. Use of Oryzias species for Environmental studies: 1. Use of SW-adaptable species as model of SW fish. 2. Assessment of environmental condition from distribution area of Oryzias species. 3. Survey of pollution using transgenic fish.

  6. Use of Oryzias species for Environmental studies: 1. Use of SW-adaptable species as model of SW fish. SW-adaptable species: O. javanicus (Indian medaka), O. dancena (Javanese medaka) Extent of genetic diversity among local strains ? Sampling of the two species at different places and genetic analyses are necessary.
