  1. State Roundtable Chairman’s Report The Follies of Relying on Supreme

  2. Why you want Roundtables in your councils • New council development- serving a parish where you have less than 30 Knights and there is a need for parish volunteers and membership drives (classic Roundtable) (must be a different parish than your home parish recorded at Supreme for your council)- there are 132 underserved parishes in our state- plenty of room for expansion • Ethnic populations (Spanish or Vietnamese or some other ethnic population- how about a Chinook Wawa speaking roundtable serving St. Michael’s and the tribe in Grand Ronde at council 11962?) (Can be in your home parish) • Special Needs Roundtable (pairing one fully functioning Knight with a disabled or developmentally disabled Knight to get degrees and serve the disabled community- my Special Needs Knights at John Clare Council are among my most dependable volunteers)

  3. Error in Supreme Instructions • Earlier, I reported that you could get by just filling out Form 2630 every year. This is incorrect. We need to fill out BOTH Form 2629 and 2630 every year to meet our state quota of 40 roundtables. • So far this fraternal year we have 5. Because of the confusion over the forms, up until November we had ONE. I sent out an e-mail in November to all Grand Knights and all District Deputies asking for Form 2629 to be filled out online and sent in. Five councils responded.

  4. Where to find forms • ONLINE: • http://www.kofc.org/un/en/forms/council/2629Online.pdf - Form 2629 can now be filled in online to start a roundtable. • http://www.kofc.org/un/en/forms/council/2630Online.pdf - should be filed June 30th, and now can also be filed online. We were misled- while filling in form 2630 is supposed to take care of your 2629 reporting, it does NOT, you need to file both forms. • To Print and Mail: • http://www.kofc.org/un/en/forms/council/roundtable_coordinators2629_p.pdf - to be filed to start a roundtable • http://www.kofc.org/un/en/forms/council/roundtable_report2630_p.pdf Due June 30th

  5. The Power of the Database • My database is slightly outdated, so I need your help as District Deputies. I have not had time to update Grand Knights- and I know for my own council, we had a Grand Knight resign, so our information in the state directory is inaccurate. Others may be inaccurate, but I think I have home parishes correct for our 86 Councils • I updated the parish list from the Archdiocese directory when it came out, giving us zip code information for 218 parishes. Using the zip codes for the 86 parishes where we have councils, I matched the remaining 132 parishes to their closest council by distance between zip codes.

  6. Handouts • I then filled my “Potential Roundtables” list, subtracted out the reported roundtables Supreme is aware of, and produced the sheets I have handed out. These are the underserved parishes in each of your districts. At the top of each form are the five web addresses you need to know about, as well as my contact information. We have a quota of 40 roundtables in this state, and 127 parishes with NO involvement with the Knights at all. It is our moral duty to offer Knighthood to every practical Catholic Gentleman over the age of 18. We can meet this quota, quite possibly within the membership we have.

  7. Requirements to start a Roundtable • You need a Parent Council with a Grand Knight • You need at least one member who represents the community the roundtable will serve- who will advocate for their parish, their ethnic community, or a special needs individual in council meetings. • You need the parish address of both the home parish and the parish being served. • A parish with more than 600 families should only have a roundtable for a short time, the time needed to recruit 30 Knights for a new council.

  8. Where to get help • Online at Supreme: • http://www.kofc.org/un/en/resources/membership/roundtable.pdf • Roundtable Chairman: • Ted Seeber • 503-318-1508 • seebert42@gmail.com
