NOAA Climate Program Strategy Program Performance objective A Predictive understanding of the global climate system on time scales of weeks to decades with quantified uncertainties sufficient for making informed and reasoned decisions Improve climate predictive capability from weeks to decades, with an increased range of applicability for management and policy decisions. Climate Predictions and Projections Describe and understand the state of the climate system through integrated observation, analysis, and data stewardship. Observations and Analysis Climate and Ecosystems Understand and predict the consequences of climate variability and change on marine ecosystems. Reduce uncertainty in climate projections through timely information on the forcing and feedbacks contributing to change in the Earth’s climate. Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA):www.climate.noaa.gov/cpo_pa/risa • NOAA supports university-based teams across the U.S. to analyze how climate impacts key sectors within a region and how climate information could help with resource management and planning within that region. • RISAs create strong university partnerships with federal, state, and local stakeholders within a region. • Example topics covered include: Agriculture, Wildland Fire, Water Resources, Drought Planning, Fisheries, Public Health.

  12. Transition of Research Applications to Climate Services TRACS The TRACS program goal is to facilitate the development of new or enhanced regional products, especially at the grass roots level, and transition climate information tools into operational products.
