  2. Definition • The Council is the main decision making body of the European Union.

  3. Organization • Presidency held by each Member State for a 6 month period on a rotational basis decided by the European council. • Depending on the topic under debate, it consists of ministers from the Member State.

  4. The Council is responsible for decision making and coordination

  5. The acts of the Council • Can take the form of regulations, directives, decisions, common actions or common positions, recommendations or opinions, adopt conclusions, declarations or resolutions.
