S A F E D R I V I N G As this would be my first lesson to teach the newly hired operators, my focus in this lesson is to teach about safe practices and laws designed to prevent accidents and to keep everyone safe. These are few topics which I will be teaching.. • 5 Keys of safe driving • Parking Procedures • Hazard awareness Perceptions • Executing Turns

  3. OUT COME:.. • explore the very typical and basic safe driving issues and create their own public safety announcement. • knowledge of Causes of the Accidents and they will learn how they can drive in a safe manner.

  6. C U S T O M E R S E R V I C E • Customer Service lesson is given because not all the people know about or have any experience in customer service. Have very less or no knowledge of public service. Helping the passenger, in case he or she needs a free ride, but the passenger has to tell the operator the emergent reason. The focus of this lesson is to teach about customer service and is designed to prevent any kind of assault and to keep everyone safe. It's important to educate the new transit operators about customer service.

THE TOPICS WHICH I WILL TEACH THEM IN THIS LESSON ARE... • Greeting Passengers • Guiding Confused Passengers • Dealing with Service Disruptions and Delays • Managing Unexpected Flows of Passengers • Helping a Passenger in Distress • Dealing with Disruptive Passengers • Accommodating more then 2 strollers • Intoxicatedpassengers

  8. OUTCOME At the end of this lesson, new transit operators should be able to:... • 1…provide the passengers a safe ride with respect and courtesy • 2…give instructions to passengers on emergency situations COURSE MATERIAL Winnipeg Transit Hand Book, Policies and Procedures Hand Book.

  10. TRAPTRANSIT ASSAULT PREVENTION • Winnipeg will investigate how it can improve safety on transit buses after the number of assaults against bus drivers has tripled in recent years. Many of the assaults start after a passenger has refused to pay a fare, It's becoming a huge problem. • what's happening to transit operators out there?

We want to provide a safe ride out there for everybody. unfortunate the number of assaults has risen steadily in the last six years, and it's an issue the city has to take seriously. • In 2004 the assault committee was formed. The felt the need to examine the current policies. In 2007 the GPS system was supplied. • In 2008 buses were installed with the Audio and Video Surveillance.

THE TOPIC TO TEACH • In this Lesson my aim will be to teach the new operators to recognize the dangerous situations and to avoid them, ensuring personal and passenger safety. • The lesson will contain…. 1- The Definition of ASSAULT 2- The 5 main levels of Assault 3- Assault Report 4- Training

  13. LEVELS OF ASSAULT • Level no.1: Applying force . Level no.2: Use of or threat to use a weapon . Level no.3: Aggravate assault by wounding . Level no.4: All levels of assault . Level no.5 Any crime committed on the bus.

  14. OUT COME • At the end of this program, new transit operators 1- Recognize the dangerous situation 2- keep them-self and others safe. MATERIAL The class/group will be provided the material at the time of their course program. The videos of the previous assault situation will be show.
