The Scottish Government, in collaboration with COSLA, is renewing its focus on homelessness prevention with a strategic objective to address the impact of welfare reform. A new guidance group, chaired by ALACHO, will convene stakeholders such as LAs, SCSH, Shelter, and CIH. The group’s first meeting is scheduled for March 28, 2013. Key topics include temporary accommodation, supported exempt accommodation, benefit cap implications, and a review of funding formulas for hostel deficits. The intention is to enhance collaboration and monitoring to achieve better outcomes in health, homelessness, and crime reduction.
