We are passionate about cycling and building relationships through adventure. We have the experience, knowledge and enthusiasm. Riders are led by Ian Wilson, Owner of Single Track Minded. Ian has over eleven years experience in guided tours and is an avid mountain biker with endless knowledge and impeccable riding skills. Our tours are focused on providing great cycling in breathtaking destinations. Build relationships whilst sitting in the saddle experiencing the wonderful surroundings. Build character and get to know each other's strengths and weaknesses whilst having fun and getting fit. Cyclists stay at the incredible Mtentu River Lodge with 180 degree ocean views nestled on top of a mountain ledge. GuideIan Wilson Ian Wilson has been mountain biking for more than eleven years . Having competed in 8 Sani2Sea ; 7 Berg2Bush ; 2 Wine2Whales ; 4 Hill2Hill and countless day races. Ian’s positive attitude towards life and Christian values make him an unbelievable individual, friend and biking coach. “Ian is an incredible leader. He encourages, never pushes and has the unique ability to teach mountain biking. He coaches a skill and develops confidence on a bike and as a result, the individual’s riding progresses quickly. His passion and enthusiasm for biking is contagious and his extensive knowledge of the Wild Coast furthered our whole weekend experience. Ian, together with his supportive team at STM, made this weekend the huge success that it was! The thoughtful planning and preparation was evident in every aspect.”
Overview of the Adventure The team begins their PondoLand adventure at The WildCoast Sun. Luggage is labelled and loaded into the transport vehicle set for Mtentu River Lodge whilst cyclists are briefed on their safety and route by Ian The 45km cycle to the lodge begins through long grassed footpaths until the riders reach the first river crossing, whereby bikes are ferried across the uMzamba River by the guides. Over mountains and through streams leads the team to the most exhilarating, awesome and refreshing Poshengwane Waterfalls where lunch is served. After lunch, riders make their way through local villages, along dirt roads whilst the local children wave them on. Cruising through the Xolobeni Red Desert which takes the riders to the local shop encouraging a much needed refreshment. The riders make their way to the rustic Mtentu River Lodge where they are met with a welcome drink and refreshing towel. “A perfect day - outdoors, stress free, exercising, meeting new people and having fun- all at the same time”
Mtentu River Lodge Riders enjoy a 2 night stay at the beautiful Mtentu River Lodge, a community partnership eco-lodge, a laid back spot off the beaten track in a small community that has remained the same for hundreds of years Experience the Wild Coast as it should be with untouched beaches, undiscovered waterfalls, a turtle filled estuary with game on its banks and friendly locals ready to invite you into their homes. The lodge is run in partnership with the community and is dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism and eco tourism. Riders stay in 2 – 4 sleeper cabins with all food and accommodation included in their ride price. “The eco showers overlooking the ocean were stunning. Weekend Activities Pondalond boasts the most gorgeous landscape. Riders can enjoy their Saturday either relaxing on the beautiful beach, hiking or canoeing up the Mtentu Estuary. Jump out of a baboon cave into a river and swim under a waterfall once used in a film starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise Gorge Hikes Waterfall Hikes Beach Hikes “After discovering the secret inlet , we watched the jumping frenzy begin off the most unimaginably beautiful waterfalls.”
What to Bring • Your own personal cycling gear such as shorts, helmet, shoes, gloves – min 2 sets of kit • Ideally a fresh pair of shammies/pants for each day • 3 cycling tops or T shirts for riding in • Casual clothes for evenings, shorts, a tracksuite, shirts • Beanies and a Jacket • Sleeping clothes • Socks, for riding and normal wear • Swimming costume and 2 towels • A riding rain jacket, cape storm makes a great one that can fold up into a small ball • 3 Litres of liquid carrying capacity (hydration pack/water bottles) • Multi-tool/bike repair tools • 2 spare tubes • 1 hanger for your own make of bike – ask bike shop for hanger for your type of bike • Chain Lube • Any snacks you fancy, like biltong, nuts, biscuits, sweets, all the little luxuries which you won’t find in the middle of the Wild Coast • Torch/flashlight, headlight would be best • Daypack “There was no rushing and structure formality often characteristic of group getaways… An awesome adventure!”

Accident happen. Route and Ride Brief This is mountain biking in its purist form. All the trails are foot paths and cattle paths with a little bit of jeep track thrown in. There are also some sections that there is no path and we take the best line possible. The 1st day of 45km will take us up to 7 hours to complete, this is mainly due to the river and estuary crossings which consume large amounts of time. Keeping this in mind, please bring sun cream in your ride kit as you will need to keep putting it on after each crossing to avoid getting sun burnt. We will be stopping for lunch on each day and will be swimming on the way, so please pack a costume. Please note that this is a tour and not a race, we ride as a group and the emphasis is on fun and exploration.
Itinerary Day 1 NB Make sure you have a full breakfast 8:00am – Meet at Wild Cost Sun car park; here all cars will be parked in their secure 24hours security parking. Transfer all bags and luggage to vehicle which will transfer to the camp Kit up and get ready to ride! Riders to depart for adventure at 8:30 latest Wild Coast Sun to Mtentu River Lodge 45km 16km ride to Poshengwane Falls and pool. This is the lunch stop. Lunch is provided by STM Swimming is compulsory, so is jumping off the rock, the 1st and smallest of all the jumps over the weekend. Ride into camp, crossing another 3 rivers and a real SPAZA stop, so bring cash for ice cold coke or Black Label, your choice Arrive at camp 4pm, warm welcome and hot showers Meet at camp fire at 6pm Day 2 Riders choose from a range of fun and exciting activities, either in or out the saddle. Day 3 Mtentu to Wild Coast Sun – return ride, 45km After a good breakfast, we will be making our way back on the bikes to the Wild Coast Sun. We will be going a different route back and stopping at the Amazing Nymeni falls for lunch. We will be back at the car park no later than 4pm. “crossing river mouths, often making our own paths through the veld like adventurous pioneers…”
