  1. Miniworkshop on the ATLAS Upgrade for the HL-LHCCloseout Zdenek Dolezal Charles University in Prague HL-LHC ATLAS Upgrade miniworkshop

  2. ITK and the Prague cluster • Investigate possibility to set up one production unit of the ITK endcap modules in Prague • Significant extension of the ATLAS tasks: • 2003-5: sensor QA, QA of 400 modules, pixels • ?2017-19?: sensor QA, assembly + wire bonding + QA of ~1000 modules • Main discussion topic for the afternoon AU: afternoon

  3. Necessary conditions • Infrastructure • Clean rooms, vacuum jigs, bonding, cooling, metrology • Test systems (HV,LV, R/O) • Personnel • Engineers for the production implementation and control • Technicians • Physicists/students for testing, database… AU: afternoon

  4. Necessary conditions Financial support • Local: equipment, operation, travels, salaries – limited term contracts • Contribution to the detector Common Fund AU: afternoon

  5. Summary • ATLAS experiment was and remains a flagship project for the Czech community (physics, technical, outreach) • ATLAS Upgrade offers an exciting future • We should remain an essential part of it • This is not for free • Please join us in our effort to contribute to the physics programme, software as well as hardware!
