  1. The information in this show is for operating a Scissor Lift. A Scissor Lift is: a work platform consisting of a work basket (platform), lifting mechanism and chassis that can raise and lower people and materials. They are commonly used when work must be done at a height without conventional access. This is not a boom-type elevating work platform. Scissor lifts are hydraulicly raised and lowered on linked, folding supports that draw together to lift the work platform. [See seperate guide for Boom Type Elevating Work Platform. A boom length of 11m or more requires a license.]

The answer must not exceed the SWL (Safe Working Load) of the scissor lift. combined weight of load For example: = + + Or Less than SWL

  4. Avoid Falls and Tip-overs BE ALERT Accidents such as these can cause significant injury or death. Always be aware of the area around you and operate the scissor lift carefully when working around loading bays, docks or any other raised areas. Keep away from the edge of docks and ramps. Jolting from uneven surfaces is greater at the platform.

  5. Entering the Platform Enter the platform only when it is fully lowered or when there is an approved landing area. Always face scissor lift and have 3 point contact while mounting or dismounting. NEVER CLIMB THE SCISSOR ARMS TO REACH THE PLATFORM.
