Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Achieves Record-High ACT Scores and Educational Milestones

The Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD) marked an impressive year in 2010-2011, with students achieving record-high scores and participation rates on the ACT college entrance exam. The Texas Education Agency released the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report, indicating that GCISD students met all performance standards. New online tools assist residents in finding school attendance areas and bus stops, enhancing community engagement. In addition, TARGET Evening Classes have been introduced for students to catch up or advance in their studies. Varsity football tickets are now available for purchase at the GCISD Swim Center.

  1. Grapevine – Colleyville ISD 2010-2011September Highlights

  2. 2010-2011District Highlights ACT scores, participation rates reach record highs Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students once again demonstrated their college readiness with record-high scores on the ACT college-entrance exam, according to results released in mid-August for the exams administered in spring 2010. Additionally, students chose to take more ACT exams in 2010 than in any previous year. The ACT is considered the most widely accepted college entrance exam in the United States.

  3. 2010-2011District Highlights District receives federal report card GCISD students exceeded standards on all components outlined in the 2010 Adequate Yearly Progress(AYP) released by the Texas Education Agency. AYP is a measure of student performance and participation included in the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Under these provisions, all public schools, school districts and the state are evaluated and required to meet criteria on three measures: reading/language arts, mathematics, and either graduation rate for high schools and districts or attendance rate for elementary and middle schools.

  4. 2010-2011District Highlights Search online for bus stops, attendance areas New residents, residents considering moving within the District, real estate agents and employees have a new onlinetool to help them determine the school attendance area and/or bus stop for a particular address. Accessed through the District’s website, and based on the address entered, the website user will have access to a list of school bus stops under the My Bus Stops tab and school attendance information under the My Schools tab.

  5. 2010-2011District Highlights TARGET Evening Classes available for students Registration is open for TARGET Evening classes with the first session beginning September 7. Class sizes are limited. TARGET offers an excellent opportunity for students to catch up on credits, advance in order to graduate early or open a section of their normal schedule to take another course of their choice. Classes will be held Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/ Thursday, 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Bridges Accelerated Learning Center, 5800 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, Texas.

  6. 2010-2011District Highlights Tickets for varsity football games on sale During the school year, general admission and reserved tickets are available at the GCISD Swim Center for both high schools. In addition, CHHS and GHS will have general admission tickets available for sale the week of each game. Pre-game general admission tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students. At the gate all general admission tickets are $8. Reserved seats (sold only at the Swim Center) are $9.
