  4. Daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella • of Spain. • Married Henry’s brother Arthur but • he died shortly after their wedding. • She married Henry many years later • She had a daughter • “Mary” and miscarried • several other babies.

  5. Anne’s family wanted power. • Henry fell for her and this • led to Henry’s excommunication • and the beginning of Protestantism • She bore him a daughter “Elizabeth,” • who became one of the • greatest rulers of England.

  6. Known as Henry’s true love. • She attempted to reunite Henry with • his daughters. • She bore him a son, “Edward.”

  7. After Jane’s death Henry sought a wife to create alliances between England and another great country • No one wanted him. • He sent a painter to Germany to paint Anne and the painter painted her likeness falsely. • When he agreed to marry her she came to England and he found her repulsive.

  8. Married Henry around the age of 15. • He was 49, fat, and repulsive. • She was a silly girl who loved the gifts that the king gave her. • She also loved someone else…

  9. Was widowed twice before marrying Henry. • She was very close to Henry’s children. • She acted more like Henry’s nurse than his wife • His health was failing…
