  3. Key responsibilities • Buddies • Prefects • Committee responsibility round school • Independence for equipment and organisation • Transition to high school (e.g. Friday 29th – Mr Sugden from KJH), Sicklinghall + small schools transition

  4. Key Stage 2 tests • Monday 14th May 2018 until Thursday 17th May 2018. Please don’t book a holiday… • Tests in… • Reading • Maths (x 3) • Grammar, punctuation and spelling • NB – writing is assessed by the teacher in class • Examples of tests to follow… • Revision club will start after Christmas on Thursdays (tbc) after school

  5. Reading test: straightforward question (vocabulary focus)

  6. Reading test: longer, complex question with evidence

  7. Maths test: arithmetic paper (calculations without context)

  8. Maths test: reasoning questions testing multiple domains (areas) of maths

  9. Grammar and Punctuation test:short answer questions

  10. Spelling test: fill in the blanks

  11. Homework and planners • Read, read, read: good habits crucial. Brief note in planner is fine. • Mathletics homework: set weekly on Wednesdays to be completed by following Tuesday. • Currently transferring to new site: Helpline is 0117 370 1990 • Times table fact practice and WEDWK? (What Else Do We Know?) • Spelling homework: Fridays (see resources) • Reading Circles homework: hand-in days will vary (try to give a weekend for completion, e.g. Tue for Mon)

  12. How can I help? • Encourage learning independence: • Praise effort rather than achievement • Positive mindset about learning • Encourage personal organisation • Prepare for Y7 when homework, deadlines, personal organisation, transport • If possible, get involved with their learning (website, topic handouts, volunteering with skills)
