Who we are • An academic research journal published by the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA) • One volume per calendar year with four issues per volume. • Occasional special issues and/or monographs are released as supplements to the regular issues. • CAR regularly ranks within top five accounting journals internationally and a Financial Times 45-listed journal
What we publish: • Research with broad appeal within accounting academe • Research contributing to the understanding of accounting’s role in organizations, markets or society • Canadian-based but global in scope; we seek to reflect the worldwide intellectual diversity in accounting research.
What we publish - continued • CAR welcomes • interesting and intellectually rigorous work • in all topic areas of accounting, • using any appropriate method, • based in any discipline or research tradition • that can contribute to accounting knowledge
Editorial Process • Similar to The Accounting Review • Paper is vetted first by the EIC who sends it to an Editor with appropriate expertise • Blind review – Editors encouraged to select at least one reviewer from the editorial board • Tradition of extra support for dissertation papers; giving them the benefit of the doubt when editors are “on the fence” • Editors make the final editorial decision with EIC oversight although rare that the Editor’s view would be overturned

CAR Conference • Held each year in late October; location varies across Canada • Call for papers comes out in April each yearwith acceptance notices going out in late July • Three possible editorial decisions for conference papers • Accept for conference, revise for journal • Reject for conference, revise for journal • Reject for conference and journal • Only 7 of approx. 120 papers submitted are selected for presentation • Quick first round review so many people target the conference submission date as a way to get a quick first round revise and resubmit
