Calibration and Evaluation of Terra/Aqua Band Reflectance over Libyan Desert: NDVI Analysis

This study evaluates the calibration of Terra and Aqua satellite bands 1 and 2 over the Libyan desert by assessing their directional surface reflectance normalized for Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) at a nadir view and a solar zenith angle of 45 degrees. NDVI values computed from the normalized surface reflectance for both satellites reveal a minimal difference (Terra vs. Aqua: 0.007 for NDVI). However, discrepancies in band reflections suggest that Aqua and Terra data are becoming increasingly less comparable, necessitating further investigation for enhanced data consistency.
