Essential Questions • How will we utilize feedback for students to determine next steps and to revise their work? • How will we ensure that students use the language of the standards as they discuss their work and explain teacher and peer feedback? • How will we utilize exemplars as feedback for students? • How will we utilize feedback so that students can identify where their work falls in relation to the posted exemplars?

Essential Vocabulary • Feedback – clear & specific to the desired performance • Language of the Standards – The best way to ensure students will use the language when giving feedback to their peers is by teachers modeling the use of key words from the standards. • Exemplars/Anchor Papers – worthy imitation or a model

  5. EQ: How will we utilize feedback for students to determine next steps and to revise their work? • “Making meaning requires using and controlling one’s own thought processes. This is called self-regulation. Butler and Winne’s (1995) research review showed that both external feedback (teacher feedback) and internal feedback (student self-evaluation) affect student knowledge and beliefs. Together they help students with self-regulation: deciding on their next learning goals, devising tactics and strategies to reach them, and producing work” (Brookhart, 2008). • Group Discussion • Is it for “show or grow”?
