  3. Introduction • Afternoon Tea is one of the biggest traditions in England. It is an afternoon spent with some close people, cakes, sandwiches, tea, all around a round table (very fancy), well, at least, that is the idea. • We will show you what this event is all about, where it came from and what you need to prepare a perfect Afternoon Tea.

  4. History • In the early nineteenth century, the 7th Duchess of Bedford said she had some kind of “sinking feeling”, actually at that time, people used to eat two times a day (breakfast and dinner), so it’s normal that they would feel hungry during the day. Since she was feeling that way, the Duchess started eating a light snack (little sandwich/cake) and having a cup of tea before dinner. • At first she had that little snack alone but later on, she started inviting some people to join her. That became so popular, that when she returned to London, she kept doing the same thing, and nowadays, people (normally high society) keep the tradition and also have a (fancy) snack in the middle of the afternoon.
