Comingled Trash • Rewriting Refuse Contract • Increase Recycling by Comingling recyclable materials in one container • Paper, plastic, file folders, magazines, Newspapers, etc • No Glass, Food, Food paper, bathroom tissue • Increased Responsibility for Custodians • Keeping Trash “clean” is critical, improperly mixed trash will go to landfill • At Trashcan • At Dumpster • 75% landfill diversion goal by 2014 • Started August 2011 • In first four months, diverted 27 tons from dump, 448 trees saved, 184,590 gallons of water saved, 12,209 gallons of oil saved, 81 cubic yards of landfill space saved
