Leonardo da Vinci • Born April 15, 1453 in Vinci Italy. • He was raised by his farther Ser Piero and his stepmothers. • His admiration and passion for art began when he was 14 years old. • At the age of 20 he qualified as a master artist in the Guild of Saint Luke and established his own workshop. • Death May 02, 1519 in Amboise, France.

  7. Inspiration: Who is Mona Lisa? • Leonardo used a real-life model for this painting. • Lisa del Giocondo who was married to a wealthy Florentine silk merchant Francesco del Gioncondo. • It was made for their new home and to celebrate their second son Andrea.

  9. My interpretation • In my opinion this painting is simply a painting Leonardo was doing for the Gioconda's. He did not get to finish his painting. People are trying to go to much into detail for this painting. It was so unique back in the Renaissance period of time because the way in which the lady was painted was very different from the usual. Usually artist painted them from the side and full body length. He also used a new form of painting “Sfumato” in which in this picture things get unclear towards the back of it. It gave it a very modern effect.
