General Administration Guidelines Cover or remove from the walls any visual aids, charts, or board work pertaining to the content being tested No one may “review or comment on the answer sheet of a student while the test is in progress” “Proctors may not comment to the student on the correctness or sufficiency of any answer” “No section of the test may be discussed with the students before it has been administered”

  3. General Administration Guidelines • “Answer sheets may not be reviewed or scored by anyone” • “No one, under any circumstance, including the student, may alter the students’ responses on the test once the student has handed in his or her test materials” • Before students turn it in, you may remind them to check their work. • During testing, you should walk around to make sure students do not skip questions or mark multiple answers for one question • “Unused test booklets may not be used for instructional or staff development purposes” • All materials must be returned to the Skills Center as soon as testing is over

  4. ELA Specific Accommodations Testing accommodations that ARE permitted if they are on the students’ IEP or 504: For listening sections: test directions and all questions may be read aloud; listening section may be read aloud more than the standard number of times Use of scribe

ELA Specific Accommodations Testing accommodations that are NOT permitted, even if they are on the students’ IEP or 504: For reading sections: only test directions can be read aloud (these are usually in bold-faced type that precede a passage or a test question number); no other sections may be read aloud For writing sections: students are not allowed to use spell check; spelling and grammar can not be waived

  6. Things to Remember - ELA No pens No scrap paper No additional paper for extended response Hi-lighters are OK as long as they do not obscure answers

Math Specific Accommodations Testing accommodations that ARE permitted if they are on the students’ IEP or 504: Test read: all parts of the test may be read aloud if the student has this accommodation Scribe: the scribe must ask student where to place the numbers and where to line them up; the student must identify operational signs; the student must give the digits of the number to be written; all procedures for borrowing and carrying must be explained by the student; students do not have to spell out explanations

Math Specific Accommodations Testing accommodations that are NOT permitted even if they are on the student’s IEP or 504: Test questions may never be modified or simplified; only directions can be simplified (test directions never refers to any part of a question or passage) No additional examples can be given No calculators No math tables Use of manipulatives: only counters can be used; no other manipulatives are allowed No scrap paper

Grade 3 ELA Testing Day 1 35 Multiple Choice – 60 minutes total Questions 1-7: article - 10 minutes Questions 8-12: article – 8 minutes Questions 13-19: story – 10 minutes Questions 20-23: poem – 8 minutes Questions 24-27: story – 8 minutes Questions 28-31: selection – 8 minutes Questions 32-35: story – 8 minutes

  10. Day 2 Listening and Editing Questions 36-40: Listening MC – 24 min. Questions 41-43: Listening SA – 6 min. Questions 44-46: Editing MC – 6 minutes

  11. Day 3 Reading and Writing Questions 47-48: 1st reading short answer Questions 49-50: 2nd reading short answer Question 51: 2nd reading extended response A break is allowed – see pg 15.

Grade 4 ELA • Day 1 Questions 1-43: MC – 70 minutes • Day 2 (Listening/Editing) Questions 44-49: Listening multiple choice Questions 49-51: Listening short answer - 24 Minutes Questions 52-54: Editing multiple choice – 6 minutes • Day 3 (Reading/Writing) Short Answer and Extended Response (paired reading) – 60 minutes A break is allowed – see page 22

Grade 5 ELA • Day 1 Questions 1-35: Multiple Choice – 60 min. • Day 2 (Listening/Editing) Questions 36-40: Listening multiple choice Questions 41-43: Listening SA 24 minutes Questions 44-46: Editing MC – 6 minutes. • Day 3 (Reading/Writing) Questions 47-50: Short answer Question 51: Extended response (paired response) 60 minutes Time allowed for a break – see page 30.
