  1. THE GREAT COMMISSION IN TEN PARTS

  2. PART SEVEN: THE PERPETUATION: TEACH The five accounts of the Great Commission are in: Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20; Acts 1.

  3. We have covered six parts of the Great Commission: • The authority behind it: Jesus Christ. • The obligation: Go. • The place: All the world and everyone in it. • The method: Teach. • The message: Hear, believe, repent, confess Christ, and be baptized. • The act of obedience: Immersion.

  4. This lesson deals with “keeping the saved saved.” We perpetuate the gospel through teaching (Matthew 28:19,20; 2 Timothy 2:2; Acts 2:42).There are three categories involved in this part of the Great Commission.

  5. Learn and believe the doctrines of the Bible. The Bible is God’s perfect word. We are under the law of Christ. The Bible is inspired. Bible authority is essential for all that we do.

  6. There are three members of the Godhead. God the Father. God the Son: Jesus Christ. God the Holy Spirit.

  7. The New Testament church. It is not a denomination (Ephesians 4:4). It is important (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 5:23.) It is part of God’s eternal purpose (Ephesians 3:10,11).

  8. The Bible doctrine of final things. Death (Hebrews 9:27). Hades: Paradise and Torment (Luke 16:19-31). The second coming of Christ (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10).

  9. The resurrection (1 Corinthians 15). The judgment (Matthew 25:31-46). Hell (Matthew 25:30). Heaven (Matthew 25:23).

  10. There are many more important teachings in the Bible, but this summary shows the importance of diligent daily study (see also Psalm 1; 19; 119; 2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Peter 3:15; Acts 17:11; John 5:39).

  11. Live a faithful Christian life in thought, word and deed (Colossians 3:17; Philippians 4:6-8). There are teachings about family responsibilities. Ephesians 5:23-6:4. Study Bible examples of families (good and bad).

  12. Bible study. This includes family devotions, individual study, Bible classes, and public worship (Hebrews 5:12-14; 1 Peter 2:2).

  13. The tongue (Ephesians 4:17-32; James 3:1-12). Our deeds for others (James 1:21-2:26). Regular worship with the saints (Acts 2:42; Acts 20:1-11; Hebrews 10:23-31; Matthew 6:33.

  14. Christian fellowship (Hebrews 3:12,13; Hebrews 13:1,2; 1 John 4:7-21).

  15. Evangelize the lost. We cannot teach them anything but the gospel! Romans 1:16; 15:1-4. Galatians 1:6-9.

  16. It is for everyone. Acts 10:34,35. Revelation 22:17. 1 John 2:2.

  17. Personal evangelism is powerful: Study the missionary tours of Paul and those who were with him. Acts 18:24-28.

  18. It involves sacrifice. Time (James 4:14). Money (2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 9:7). Pride [few people do personal work (successfully) before humbling themselves] (James 4:6,7,10; 1 Peter 5:6). Friends (Matthew 10:37-39; 2 Timothy 4:10.

  19. This is the only method of perpetuating the gospel. We must teach the new convert to live for Jesus – because the Christian life is the only life worth living! In a very real sense, the destiny of our neighbors depends upon our dedication to Christ, and our willingness to do what the Lord expects us to do (Philippians 4:13).
