Bella Bees are committed to enhancing the local environment through our action plan, focusing on health, wildlife, and community engagement. We strive to clean our surroundings, promote Fairtrade products, and encourage wildlife conservation. Our sub-committees are actively involved in raising awareness and organizing events, like our recent participation in a Fairtrade convention and our efforts to support local wildlife with bird boxes. Our four sub-committees Food & Technology Fairtrade Wildlife Conservation
Fairtrade We encourage pupils to buy Fairtrade and to raise awareness of Fairtrade What we have been doing: • We have been encouraging pupils to buy Fairtrade products, and raising awareness of Fairtrade. • We attended a Fairtrade convention at Glasgow Caledonian university in March.
Wildlife Conservation We encourage wildlife in our community What we have been doing: • We have put up bird boxes and feeders around the school, pupils fill them up often and are investigating to see what type of food is most popular with the birds. • We would like to do an information stall for sports day. Food & Technology We work in conjunction with gardening club - looking after garden, planting and watering it. What we have been doing: • We have been working in conjunction with gardening club (Wednesdays after school). • We are organising with the fuel zone to have a Mexican day. The aim is to encourage pupils to use the fuel zone which is a healthier choice at lunchtime. • Need volunteers to water the garden over the summer. Bellahouston Academy Eco Committee
What we did for sports day? • The Fairtrade stall gave out information about Fairtrade, some samples of Fairtrade goods and a raffle for a hamper of Fairtrade goods. • The Food and Technology group had a smoothie bike. • The wildlife conservation committee had an information stall.
