  6. What’s involved in the project? • £650k commitment • 140 sites upgrading to IP communication • Replacing obsolete IQ1 controllers • Improving software strategy • Building in scope for expansion

  13. What is Intelligent Metering? Intelligent Metering is collection of a number of concepts: • AMR – Automatic Meter Reading • The means to remotely communicate to a Intelligent meter and retrieve recorded meter data using proprietary communication media. • AM&T – Automatic Monitoring and Targeting • The ability to evaluate and set the energy profile requirement of a building and monitor actual consumed energy against the determined profile. • Demand Management • The process of linking the aM&T system with data from a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) to achieve intelligent reporting on a building’s energy and water consumption

  25. What is happening in Kirklees • Initial roll-out to 100 buildings including Offices, Schools, Leisure Centres and Town Halls • Upgrade of Electricity, Gas and Water Meters and enabling works from September 2008 to October 2009 • Installation of equipment to begin in October 2009

What Benefits Will Intelligent Metering Provide? • Provision of half hourly data for gas, water and electricity • Proactive energy management, based on ‘real-time’ data • Automatic daily profiling of building energy requirements • Reliable and accurate billing for consumed energy, reducing the ‘estimated’ bills in the conventional billing service

  28. What is Centralised Billing? Utility Bills come to Central Point and checked for: • Accuracy • Continuous readings and dates • Correct tariffs • Reduced estimates • Identify increased usage / seasonal usage
