  1. Honesty I will understand what honesty is and is not, and how President Lincoln modeled honesty.

  2. What Does it Mean To Be Honest? Hold on to the real you. Be genuine about who you are. Own up to mistakes that you make, even if you are afraid you will get into trouble. Remember, lying leads to even more trouble. Never keep silent when it’s important to tell the truth. Earn people’s trust by keeping your promises to them and by never cheating or stealing. Stop and think about what really happened so that you can talk about it truthfully. Also, think about what might happen if you don’t tell the truth. Tell friends, family, and teachers that you have made a promise to always tell the truth.

  3. Who was Abraham Lincoln, and why is he called “Honest Abe”?

  4. How can I be like “Honest Abe”? Stop, Think, and Go to make a responsible choice. Stop Don’t say anything until you think. Think What really happened? What might happen if you don’t tell the truth? Go! Go ahead and speak the truth.

Being honest is one way to model these tenants of our constitution. As our parting activity, we will all take an Honesty Oath in the fashion of Honest Abe. On the Lincoln hat, students should write at least one way they will show honesty
