  1. In-class Exercise #2 Ethics in Management The University of Winnipeg

  2. Term Test Question #2 • What is at stake and for whom in this situation? • Who and/or what will likely be affected or could be affected as this situation is addressed? • Organize your answer in relation to these entities – e.g., list the people and what aspect of their lives (e.g. job, relationships, reputation) will likely or possibly be affected somehow.

  3. Important! • Remember, you are not going to compromise your values in this situation THEREFORE • Do not couch your consideration of what is at stake in relation to what might happen if you did compromise your values. • In fact, consideration of what is “at stake” should be independent of potential actions!

  4. Consider what is at stake independent of possible actions • Don't consider what is at stake solely in relation to specific actions - "i.e. if I do X, something good / bad will happen to Y” • e.g. Someone's reputation may be inherently "at stake" in a value conflict situation independent of how the situation is addressed; • it might be affected positively, or negatively, or perhaps even not at all, as the situation is resolved.

  5. Format Specifications Limit your response to one wordprocessed page (using MSWord), double-spaced in 12-point font with one inch margins on all four sides. At the top of the page in a single line (but not in a header) list the student numbers in ascending order (but not names) of all students involved.

  6. Submission Specifications Title the document ETH-ICE2: followed by the student numbers (but not the names) in ascending order separated by commas, of all students involved. E-mail the document, using the entire document name as the subject line, as an attachment to ta4johnmelnyk@gmail.comby 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 Once that’s done, this class is over for you!
