  1. A Brief Review of the 2017 Subaru XV The new 2017 Subaru XV is now available here in Australia, and this small crossover aims to impress. The previous model XV was a crowd pleaser, and there is a lot to like about this latest model. Let’s take a closer look so that you can make an informed decision. The XV Basic Model: This new XV range consists of four different models, but we will focus on the entry level model in the range. This is the Subaru XV 2.0i, and it’s priced at $27,990 plus on roads. This makes this new XV a full $1,250 cheaper than the outgoing model, and there is additional equipment on board. Some of the features you will find as standard, are: LED daytime running lights, front fog lights, a rear roof spoiler, roof rails, a shark fin antenna, colour coded door handles, rear privacy glass, 17” alloy wheels and a temporary steel spare wheel. Inside the Cabin: The XV 2.0i has plenty of equipment and functionality inside the cabin as well, such as cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, a pair of USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, a six speaker sound system, a 6.5” touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a rear view camera. At the bottom end of the range, there is no satellite navigation or EyeSight Safety System. Off Road Capability: As a crossover one would expect there to be a reasonable level of off-road performance and there is plenty available on the new XV. As a Subaru, one should not be surprised to find that there is an all wheel drive system fitted as standard. However, as an added bonus, this system can be controlled by the X-Mode all wheel drive control system. This has been added to the XV from its sibling the Forester, and it adds considerable off road performance. The ground clearance of 220mm also helps, and it makes the XV a class leader over the Honda HR-V at 170mm, the Mazda CX-3 at 160mm and the Nissan Qashqai at 188mm. Safety Conscious: Like all Subaru cars, the XV has a five star ANCAP safety rating, some of the safety features, include: six airbags, ISOFIX points on the two rear seats and active torque vectoring. If you want to add the 3rd generation EyeSight safety suite the next model up the XV 2.0i-L has the goods at a price of $30,240 plus on roads.
