  3. Competitions • Competitions are a fun and exciting way to compete the robot that we have worked so hard on for the past six weeks • You get to see other teams and work side by side with engineers from around the area

  4. Competition Schedule

  5. Friday: Qualification Rounds • 8:00am Pits and Machine Shop open • 9:00am Opening Ceremonies • 9:30am-4:30pm Seeding Matches • 12:00-1:00pm Lunch • 4:30pm Awards Ceremony • 6:00pm Pits and Machine Shop close Pit Pit Everyone

  6. Saturday: Eliminations • 8:00am Pits and Machine Shop open • 9:00am Opening Ceremonies • 9:30am-11:45am Seeding Matches • 11:45-12:00pm Alliance Selections • 12:00pm-1:00pm Lunch • 1:00-3:00pm Final Rounds • 3:00pm Awards ceremony • 5:00pm Pits and Machine Shop close Pit Pit Everyone

  7. Jobs at Competition • Pit Crew • Spend majority of the time in the Pits • Keep robot ready to run in each match – maintains the robot • Drive Crew • Group of four that compete on the field during each match • Scouts • Spend majority of the time in the stands (some in pits) • Take copious notes (NEATLY!) • Formulate data and statistics on teams based on match results • Cheering/Spectators • Sit in the stands and cheer!

  8. Pits • A 10 ft by 10 ft area is allotted to each team to work on their robot • Due to the limited space, only pit crew members should be in the pits • If you visit the pits, make sure you get safety glasses

  13. Cheering/Spectators (Everyone) • Watch matches • No gaming, you are representing the team! No fooling around • Cheer for the team! • Hold up signs • Follow PR instruction • “MVRT, how do you feel?” • HAVE A GREAT TIME!

  14. Other Info • Remember, you are representing the school and the team at competitions • Be on good behavior. You are going into an atmosphere with professionals in the industry. • Do not wander off at either regional • Stay positive all the time – judges are always watching • If anything is wrong at a regional, get help, talk to advisor (you get sick, etc)

Forms – Fill Out the Dates Now • 2 Permission Slips (one per regional) • School Permission Slip • Signed by ALL your teachers • Insurance Form – fill out the dates now for the events you will be attending • San José State – April 1st and April 2nd • Pit – March 31st, April 1st and April 2nd • Seattle – March 18th and March 19th • Pit – March 17th-19th • STIMS FIRST Consent Form – there will be an email with the info to complete this online • Extremely important to do this!

Competition Prep • We are meeting everyday after school with the build timings to continue working on the second robot • Monday, March 7th – After school: Pit Meeting • Tuesday, March 8th – After school: • Forms Due (signed by your parents and teachers) • Scouting Meeting • Saturday, March 12th – Sunday, March 13th : Packing from 1-6pm • Monday, March 14th – After school: T-shirt, Polo, Sweatshirt Distribution • Please turn in your sweatshirt money to any officer at the end of the meeting

  19. Silicon Valley RegionalApril 1st – 2nd • MANDATORY FOR ALL MVRT MEMBERS! • COME AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR YOUR TEAM! • If you cannot come, talk to an officer

  20. Location: San José State Event Center • Address: The Event Center San José State University 290 South 7th Street San José, CA 95192 • You are responsible for your own ride • We are NOT arranging carpools

  21. General Information • The general public can attend the competition free of charge • Parents, teachers, and friends are all invited • Parking is $10 in the garage • Friday, April 1st : 9am-5pm • Saturday, April 2nd : 9am-5pm • SVR is mandatory for all members

  22. Rules and Guidelines • You must attend the days you have been excused for! • Sign-inand Sign-out with Mr. Shinta at the start and end of each day • Attendance will be taken and absences will be reported • Wear your MVRT T-shirts! • The team will be seated together in the stands forming a sea of purple • Bring money for lunch ($10-15) • Outside food is not allowed in the Event Center • Behave and act responsibly • School rules still apply to you at the competition • Do as you are told; you are responsible for yourself • No playing on your Ipod or Phones. We will take it away. • Remember to HAVE FUN!
