Special Layout Considerations • Sensitive ATD • 6 IR sensors surrounding the entire perimeter • 2 Ambient light sensors in front • RF Daughter Board • Requires a .4” ground plane around all sides • 1.2” clearance on all sides around antenna • Small Area/ Highly Populated • Main board smaller than 3”X4” hexagon • Basic Layout Guidelines • 10/12 mils trace/space • Mostly surface mount components
Micro Layout Considerations • Passive Components • Bypass capacitors close to power and ground • No external oscillator considerations (internal clk) • Difficult Routing • Connects to all components 360 degrees • Placement is critical • Headers/ Jumpers • Headers for ICSP and RF daughter board • Jumpers to disconnect ICSP pins from circuit
Power Supply Layout Considerations • Multiple Voltages • 3.3V regulator powering micro, sensors, and RF • 8.4V battery powering LEDs and motor • Power Lines • Separate analog, digital, and high power • 50mils traces and/or ground plane • Passive Components • Decoupling and bulk capacitors
