  1. GCIG Translational Research Group Chair: Michael Birrer Mbirrer@partners.org Co-Chair Ian McNeisch

  2. On Going Trials • First GCIG trial developed within the group • Important for specimen collection and associated translational research • Consider SOP for tissue processing. • Mucinous Cancer trial • angiogenesis markers • Additional TR • genomic analysis • How do groups access tissue?

  3. Translational Research Review Committee • Small subcommittee. • Diverse membership. • Specifically tasked with reviewing requests for specimens from GCIG trials. • Work with PI and participating groups.

  4. On Going TrialsClear Cell Trial • 150 frozen specimens • Cgh and expression profiling • Response to chemotherapy • Stage • Endometriosis • Ethnic differences • Looking for more frozen material (from GCIG centers)

  5. Cervical Cancer Trial • Archived material • Hypoxia/ angiogenesis markers • RTOG cervical cancer trial (different patient population • Archived material • Expression profiles for prognosis

  6. GCIG Group Trial TR Efforts • Make a comprehensive list of clinical trials (phase III) with translational research. • Share among committee members. • List on website? • To eliminate scientific redundancy. • Provide opportunities for synergy.

  7. GCIG Biomarker Laboratories • Noted the impending need for integrated biomarkers in trials (parp, PI3 kinase.) • Noted the difficulty of applying genomic/protein biomarkers to international trials. • Could impact trial participation. • Identify and characterize capabilities of GCIG associated laboratories for future trials.
