  2. BTeC Engineering • Route A • Occupies 7 periods of the timetable • Drop Technology +1 other non-core subject • Equivalent if successful to 4 GCSE’s at A*-C • 85-90% success rate in previous years

  3. Course Structure • Modular • 9 different units taken over two years • Each unit passed is worth credits • The total number of credits at the end of Year 11 gives final grading • NO EXAMS!

  5. Units • All units based on ‘real’ world situations • All very practical • Backed up with photographic and documentary evidence

Activities • All scenarios are based around the pupil working for an engineering company • They will be expected to: • Work safely within a workshop environment • Follow procedures • Interpret engineering information • Identify correct materials for particular jobs • Control manufacturing operations • Produce engineering drawings using CAD
