Calculating Elapsed time • If going from AM to PM or PM to AM, add 12 to the later time. • Ex) Find the elapsed time from 10:30 am to 2:45pm • 10:30 to 14:45 • 14:45 – 10:30 = 4:15 • You should do problem by hand, not calculator. • Does this make sense?: • EX) 10:30am to 1pm (13:00)‏ • ON CALCULATOR: 1300 – 1030 = 270 • However time elapsed is 2:30

  3. Subtracting times • 3:35pm – 5:00pm • 5:00 – 3:35 • When you borrow from “hours”, add 6 not 10 to the minutes column • FLIP CHART.... • Answer: 1:25
